Personalized medicine gets closer

March 19, 2021
Personalized medicine just got closer. A P&G SgIC team led by @Kochhar, JaspreetSingh and @Khanolkar, Jayant in partnership with A*STAR and National University of Singapore (NUS), have developed an elegant approach: 3D printing customized drug tablets. This approach allows customization for specific drug dosages, and can administer a combination of drugs in a single tablet.
An additional powerful feature of this innovation is that it allows for a constant, sustained release for a prolonged period, which can be tailored to suit a drug’s physical and chemical properties. As a result, patients may only need to take one long-lasting multidrug tablet instead of multiple tablets several times a day, making patient compliance easier.
Find out how they accomplished this in their recently published paper: https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S0378517321001745 as well as an earlier publication https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/32145267/
